I am a retired nurse in Minneapolis. I live with Cooper, an 11-year-old golden retriever with arthritis in both hips, and two cats named Millie and Biscuit who have very strong opinions about sleeping surfaces.
After Cooper's arthritis diagnosis, I spent six months and more money than I care to admit testing pet beds. Most reviews I found online were written by people who had clearly never watched a senior dog try to get into a bed with bolster walls that are too high. I started writing down my notes. Those notes became this site.
Every bed lives in my house for at least six weeks. Cooper tests the dog beds. Millie and Biscuit handle the cat beds (and occasionally steal the dog beds). I wash everything according to the manufacturer's instructions and note what holds up and what doesn't. No scores, no star ratings. Just honest notes from someone who has cleaned more pet beds than any reasonable person should.
Some links on this site earn me a small commission. This never influences what I write. If a bed falls apart after two washes, I will tell you, even if I make money when you buy it.
